The newly appointed prime minister of Bulgaria, Rumen Radev, declared this during a press conference in Berlin during his first foreign visit since he took office on May 8th.

Radev stated that negotiations from the European side should start “as soon as possible, because a war of attrition exhausts those involved, including the countries that support it,” reports Radio Bulgaria.

As the candidate of the Progressive Bulgaria coalition, he was labeled by the European and Western press in general as “Pro-Russian” for his balanced and conciliatory approach to the conflict.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that “Moscow should understand that negotiating is necessary,” and he went on to say that Europe is ready to sit down at the negotiation table with both parties of the conflict and the U.S.

However, Moscow has reiterated on several times its willingness to negotiate, but it has been blocked by Brussels and the Zelensky’s regime rejecting Russia’s conditions that it should be based on the situation on the ground.
